The Fine Print

The Sexually Transmitted Disease/Infection (STD/STI) panel is a comprehensive panel detecting the most common causes STD/STI infections through molecular diagnostics, allowing for fast, accurate and comprehensive testing.  

If you have any of the following symptoms, you should consider taking this test:

  • Unusual discharge from the penis, vagina, or anus
  • Pain during urination (may consider urinary tract infection (UTI) testing also)
  • Sores, blisters, ulcers, bumps, warts or rashes in the genital area
  • Pain in the scrotum or testicles

NOTE:  Even if you do not have symptoms but you are concerned that you may have been exposed to an STD/STI, you should consider taking this test.

What is a CLIA certified laboratory?

The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulate laboratory testing and require clinical laboratories to be certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) before they can accept human samples for diagnostic testing. Is this test FDA approved?

Laboratory Developed Tests (LDT) do not require FDA approval if they are developed using CLIA policies.  This test is analytically validated in accordance with the CLIA Guidance Document (Policy for Diagnostics Testing in Laboratories Certified to Perform High Complexity Testing) as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) by St Jude Laboratories, LLC.  Therefore, it has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
